Do We Really Need Skin Supplements

The skin is our largest organ, so taking care of it should be an essential part of our health regime and that’s why many decide to use skin supplements. And although people have a daily skin routine consisting of creams, lotions, cleansers and makeup, they don’t realize that healthy skin comes from the inside out. It’s what you put inside your body that will make the difference.

Great skin and nutrition are very much related, and vitamins can do wonders for the appearance of your skin. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that all skin supplements contain high amounts of vitamins and advertise themselves as a permanent solution for your skin care problems. However, the key to a young-looking skin is to get vitamins inside the body. In order to do that, you first need to know which ones you need and how to get them.

Vitamin A

Ever since the 80s, Vitamin A (retinol) is a well known nutrient for healthy skin. It promotes epidermal differentiation, suppresses androgen formation, inhibits sebaceous gland activity and modulates dermal growth factors. It’s very effective at protecting our skin from acne.

Vitamin A can be found in liver, kidney, egg yolks from pastured chickens and butter from pastured cows, but most importantly, in cod liver oil.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C plays a key role in the regulation of the collagen, the structural protein that acts as glue and holds the body together. It also contributes to faster healing and improved skin health. Having an adequate amount of vitamin C is related to less skin wrinkling, decreased level of dry skin and better skin appearance.

Foods rich in vitamin C include citrus fruits, dark leafy greens, tomatoes, broccoli, bell peppers, berries, but you can find it in all skin supplements as well.

Vitamin B7

The single most important B vitamin for skin is biotin (B7), a nutrient that helps us look young and attractive. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the health of our skin, hair and nails. It can be found in egg yolks, liver, salmon, whole grain bread, avocado, raspberries, cheese, cauliflower and mushrooms.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that makes your skin look and feel smoother. It is responsible for reducing the risk of sun damage and manages to reduce wrinkles, neutralize damaging free radicals and moisturize the skin. Vitamin E can be found in dark leafy greens, sunflower seeds, nuts, fish, avocado, shrimp, broccoli and many fruits.

So you can see that vitamins nourish our body and help it function properly. They are also essential for preventing and reversing many signs of skin aging. It would be ideal if we could just eat the right food, but it’s just not that simple. Unfortunately, no matter how much food we ingest, our body delivers only a certain percentage of vitamins. Therefore, the vitamin intake that our skin can use is limited, leaving us with one option – to use skin supplements.

Regime London’s products Deluxe Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid contain all vitamins and minerals that will help your body get everything it needs to have a healthy and young looking skin.
